Pakistan Post 178, Bangladesh Eye Whitewash in Final T20I
Earlier this year, in May–June, Pakistan swept Bangladesh 3–0 in a T20I series in Lahore. Now, on home soil, it’s Bangladesh’s turn for payback—and they’re one step away from a clean sweep. Having already secured the series with victories in the first two matches, the Tigers are now looking to whitewash Pakistan in the final game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Despite losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Pakistan posted a strong total of 178 for 7. Bangladesh now need a commanding chase to complete a historic 3–0 series victory—their first ever T20I series win against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Strong Start and Bangladesh’s Comeback with the Ball
Pakistan got off to a flying start with an 82-run opening stand, frustrating the hosts in the early overs. Nasum Ahmed, making a return to the playing XI, finally gave Bangladesh a breakthrough in the 8th over by dismissing Saim Ayub for 21 off 15 balls, caught by Shamim Patwary at deep square leg.
Nasum wasn’t done yet. In the 12th over, he struck again, removing Sahibzada Farhan—who had just completed his half-century in 29 balls. Farhan walked off after scoring 63, giving Bangladesh their second wicket.
Mohammad Haris, coming in at No. 3, once again disappointed. After scoring 4 and 0 in the first two matches, he managed just 5 runs off 14 balls, failing to hit a single boundary on a day when most of his teammates were striking cleanly.
Later, Hasan Nawaz added some firepower with a quick 33 off 17 balls (3 sixes, 1 four) before being removed by Shoriful Islam, who delivered a vital blow to halt Pakistan’s momentum. In the very next over, Mohammad Saifuddin struck, dismissing Hussain Talat for just 1 run off 4 balls.
Mohammad Nawaz provided a late boost with a cameo of 27 off 16 deliveries, but he was removed on the first ball of the final over by Taskin Ahmed. Taskin wasn’t finished—three balls later, he sent back Faheem Ashraf, who had started his innings with a boundary but perished trying to clear the ropes again, caught by Tanzid Hasan Tamim near the boundary line. Taskin ended the innings with two wickets in three balls.
