In a must-win PSL Eliminator clash against Karachi Kings, Shakib Al Hasan is the only Bangladeshi player included in the Lahore Qalandars' playing XI. Despite the anticipation surrounding Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s potential debut in overseas franchise cricket, the all-rounder has been left out, delaying his PSL debut.
Qalandars skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi lost the toss and was asked to bowl first. With their tournament survival on the line, Lahore must win to progress to Qualifier 2, where they would face Islamabad United on Friday. Victory in that match would set up a final showdown against Quetta Gladiators on May 25.
After a six-month break, Shakib returned to competitive cricket in the previous match but failed to make an impact — dismissed on the very first ball and going wicketless in his two-over spell, conceding 18 runs. Nonetheless, the Qalandars have shown faith in the veteran for this crucial fixture.
Sri Lankan stars Kusal Perera and Bhanuka Rajapaksa also make the XI alongside Shakib, as Qalandars look to keep their PSL hopes alive.
