Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during their match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday night at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The penalty was imposed following Delhi’s 12-run loss to Mumbai, where they failed to chase down a target of 206, getting bowled out for 193. According to the IPL Code of Conduct, Clause 2.22 stipulates that a team captain is fined ₹12 lakh for the first slow over rate offense in a season.
In an official statement, the IPL confirmed that Axar Patel was held responsible as captain for not completing the overs within the stipulated time frame.
The defeat marked Delhi’s fifth match of the season and denied them a third win, while Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, secured their second victory in six matches.
