Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz has etched his name alongside some of the greatest all-rounders in the history of Test cricket. After reaching 200 Test wickets in the previous match in Sylhet, Miraz achieved another milestone in Chattogram by surpassing 2000 runs — becoming only the sixth cricketer in history to accomplish the rare double in fewer than 55 matches.
Miraz reached the 2000-run mark during the first session on Day 3 of the Chattogram Test against Zimbabwe. He remained unbeaten on 76 off 109 deliveries, playing with confidence and intent as Bangladesh extended their lead.
With this feat, Miraz joins a prestigious list that includes legendary all-rounders such as Ian Botham, Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja — all of whom completed the 2000 run and 200 wicket double in Test cricket.
Here is the list of players who reached the 2000 run and 200 wicket milestone in the fewest Tests:
Ian Botham – 42 matches
Imran Khan – 50 matches
Kapil Dev – 50 matches
Ravichandran Ashwin – 51 matches
Ravindra Jadeja – 53 matches
Mehidy Hasan Miraz – 53 matches
Earlier, Miraz claimed his 200th Test wicket in Sylhet with a five-wicket haul against Zimbabwe, becoming only the third Bangladeshi bowler to do so, after Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam.
Starting the Chattogram Test with 1,964 runs, Miraz reached the landmark in style, further proving his value as a top-tier all-rounder for Bangladesh in the longest format of the game.
