In the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Shakib Al Hasan’s Antigua & Barbuda Falcons defeated Barbados Royals by 4 wickets, chasing down a target of 188 on the very last ball of the match.
Losing the toss, Antigua were asked to bowl first. Barbados got off to a flying start, with the openers adding 91 runs. Shakib had an off day with the ball, completing only 3 overs for 33 runs without taking a wicket.
Powered by Brandon King’s unbeaten 98, Barbados posted 187/4. For Antigua, Salman Irshad picked up 2 wickets.
In reply, Antigua started steadily, putting up 45 runs for the opening wicket. By the 12th over, they reached 110/3. Shakib came in to bat at No. 4 but couldn’t make a big impact—he scored 15 off 12 balls with 1 four and 1 six before being caught by Sherfane Rutherford, finishing with a strike rate of 125.
However, Andres Gous stole the show with a brilliant 85 off 53 balls, guiding Antigua to victory off the final delivery. While the team celebrated a thrilling win, Shakib’s performance with both bat and ball was underwhelming.
