Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Nepal: Bangladesh Drawn with Zimbabwe and Namibia
In preparation for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, associate nations from seven regions are competing in regional qualifiers. From Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia have secured their places in the global qualifiers, where they will face Bangladesh and other teams.
The tournament will be hosted in Nepal, featuring a total of 10 teams. So far, nine have confirmed their participation: Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Scotland, Netherlands, Ireland, and hosts Nepal among them. The final spot will be filled by the winner of the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, scheduled to begin on 9 September in Fiji.
In the African qualifiers, Zimbabwe reached the final by defeating Uganda by five wickets in the semifinals, while Namibia outclassed Tanzania by eight wickets to book their place. The African regional final will be played on 6 September at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, with both teams already assured of spots in the global qualifier.
The Nepal event will divide the 10 teams into two groups, with the top four sides qualifying for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England. The main event will feature 12 teams in total, with eight nations already securing direct entry.
For Bangladesh, the road to England runs through Zimbabwe and Namibia. Overcoming these African challengers in Nepal will be crucial for booking their ticket to the World Cup.
