A Historic Journey Begins for Miraz, Mushfiq and Others in Domestic Three

Breaking away from the traditional structure of domestic cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has introduced a major change to the country’s domestic cricket landscape. First-class, one-day and T20 cricket—three separate formats—have now been brought under the umbrella of a single franchise-based league, named ‘Domestic Three’. Recently, at a grand event held at a luxury hotel in the capital, the names of the six teams and their respective icon players were officially announced.

As the first step in forming the teams, a special lottery was held, with Walton winning the first pick. With their opening opportunity, they secured star all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz as their icon player. Fortune Group then used their pick to select hard-hitting batter Towhid Hridoy as their icon.

Similarly, Akmi Group chose Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, while Seven Rings Cement prioritized experience by selecting veteran Mushfiqur Rahim. Ace Bluestar secured wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan, while Citizens Bank picked opener Naim Sheikh as their representative.

These six franchises have been entrusted with managing their respective teams for the next three years. Before the action gets underway, a players’ auction will be held at a five-star hotel in the capital on October 26. From the auction, each team will be allowed to build a squad of up to 23 players to strengthen their lineup.
