Bangladesh Faces Defeat in T20 Series Against the USA
In the first match of the three-match T20I series against the United States of America (USA) on their home ground, Bangladesh suffered a loss. This can no longer be considered an upset, as the visitors lost the second match as well. With one match remaining, the series loss has been confirmed for the Tigers.
At the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. The United States posted a total of 144 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh was bowled out for 138 runs in 19.3 overs, resulting in a 6-run victory for the United States.
To restrict the hosts to a modest total, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Rishad Hossain each took 2 wickets. However, like the first match, Shakib Al Hasan remained wicketless.
For the United States, captain Monank Patel scored the highest with 42 runs. Fellow opener Steven Taylor contributed 31 runs, and Aaron Jones added 35 runs off 34 balls.
Replacing Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 19 runs off 15 balls, hitting one four and one six. His opening partner, Soumya Sarkar, was dismissed for a golden duck.
After losing two wickets for 30 runs, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy built a partnership of 48 runs. The partnership was broken when Shanto was run out for 36 runs off 34 balls, which included 2 fours and 1 six. Soon after, Towhid Hridoy was also dismissed, scoring 25 runs off 21 balls with 1 six.
Mahmudullah Riyad, batting at number 6, could only manage 3 runs off 4 balls. Jaker Ali scored 4 runs off 5 balls. In the end, no other batsman could reach double figures, except for Shakib Al Hasan, who scored 30 runs off 23 balls with 4 fours and 1 six.
For the United States, Ali Khan took 3 wickets. Saurabh Netravalkar and Shadley van Schalkwyk each claimed 2 wickets, while Jasdeep Singh and Corey Anderson took 1 wicket each.
