BCB Raises Salaries for Women Cricketers
Bangladesh women’s cricket is set to receive a significant boost in financial support. Following his appointment, Abdur Razzak, the new director of BCB’s women’s cricket division, had promised to increase players’ salaries. That promise was realized on Monday, when the board approved the pay hike for national women cricketers.
Under the new structure, monthly salaries for women cricketers will range from BDT 80,000 to BDT 160,000. Fifteen players have been divided into four categories under central contracts. The revised pay scale will take effect from July this year and remain in place until June next year.
Specifically, salaries for ‘A’ category players have risen from BDT 120,000 to BDT 160,000. ‘B’ category players will now earn BDT 135,000 per month, while ‘C’ category salaries are set at BDT 95,000 and ‘D’ category at BDT 80,000. Players outside central contracts who join the national team will receive BDT 60,000 per month. The team captain and vice-captain will receive additional allowances of BDT 30,000 and BDT 20,000 respectively.
In the finalized list, ‘A’ category includes Nigar Sultana Jyoti, Nahida Akter, and Sharmin Akter Supta. ‘B’ category features Farzana Hoque Pinky, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter, Rabeya Khan, and Sobhanna Mostari. Sworna Akter is the sole player in ‘C’ category, while ‘D’ category consists of Sumaiya Akter, Fariha Islam Trishna, Rubaiya Haider Jhilick, Sanjida Akter Meghla, and Nishita Akter Nishi.
