Mirpur erupted the moment the final wicket fell. Nahid Rana’s fiery bouncer brushed Shaheen Afridi’s gloves before landing safely in the hands of Mahmudul Hasan Joy at forward short leg. With that catch came a historic victory for Bangladesh. Nahid’s wild celebration perfectly reflected the story of the match total dominance from the hosts.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday. It was the Tigers’ first-ever Test win against Pakistan on home soil. Back in 2024, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side had already scripted history by winning a series in Pakistan.
Chasing 268, the visitors failed to survive even two sessions. Nahid Rana emerged as the hero of the match, claiming 5 wickets for 40 runs in just 9.5 overs.
Starting the day on 152 for 3, Bangladesh added another 88 runs before declaring at 240 for 9. Captain Shanto led from the front with a crucial innings of 87.
Taskin Ahmed struck early with the ball to put Pakistan under pressure. Later, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam chipped in with timely wickets to keep the visitors on the back foot.
Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel attempted to build resistance with a steady partnership. However, Nahid broke the stand after 31 runs and shifted the momentum completely in Bangladesh’s favour.
Bangladesh never allowed Pakistan another chance after that. Nahid removed Noman Ali through a successful review before dismissing Shaheen Afridi to wrap up a memorable victory for the Tigers.
