Sakib’s stern response to Ashwin’s remarks
Whenever a World Cup or continental tournament arrives, the battles on the field are often accompanied by wars of words off it. Former star cricketers, in the name of analysis, sometimes make comments that trigger controversy, and fans further fuel the heat of debate.
A similar situation has emerged following a comment from India’s experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Speaking on a YouTube show, Ashwin said, “There’s nothing to say about Bangladesh.”
In response, young Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib gave a clear message. At the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Sri Lanka, when asked about Ashwin’s statement, Sakib replied, “I have a mouth. I can say whatever I want, especially those who are not under contract.”
The young Tigers pacer further added, “You cannot stop anyone from speaking. Who says what doesn’t really matter. These things don’t matter. We are here to represent Bangladesh with a goal in mind. We will give our best. Whether someone calls us a big team or a small team - none of it matters.”
