Sujan Finds Positives Amid Misunderstanding with Noakhali Management
A misunderstanding between Noakhali Express head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujan and the team management led to a brief disruption during training on Wednesday, with Sujan and team official Talha Zubayer leaving the ground midway through the session.
The situation escalated when Sujan expressed dissatisfaction over several irregularities, even hinting at stepping down from his coaching role. However, a few hours later, both Sujan and Talha returned to the ground from the team hotel. Speaking to the media afterward, Sujan clarified what had actually transpired.
“It was a heat-of-the-moment issue, maybe a misunderstanding,” Sujan said. “I want to thank the team owners, both of whom stood by me. They spoke to me, and the BCB also communicated with me. The main issue was that I didn’t receive the necessary training equipment for practice. That frustrated me, and maybe there was some inappropriate behavior toward me. I felt that if such behavior happens even before the tournament starts, what would happen after losing a match? Touhid and Adnan spoke with me as well. It was completely a misunderstanding.”
Explaining the root of the issue, Sujan added, “Talha told me that the balls and other training equipment hadn’t arrived. I asked who was responsible for that, and that’s where the misunderstanding began. Honestly, I lost my temper at that moment.”
Despite the incident, Sujan believes there is a positive side to what happened. “What happened today might actually be good in one way. It’s better that it happened now rather than later. I believe this will help improve the team’s bonding,” he said.
Sujan also expressed satisfaction with the Noakhali Express franchise. “I’m very happy with my franchise. I’ve been involved in many BPLs, and here everything—from clothing to high-quality jerseys—has been well organized. The players were paid today as well. I’m genuinely happy that they’ve kept their promises. I hope they continue to support us throughout the tournament.”
For now, Sujan remains optimistic about Noakhali Express as they prepare for the upcoming competition.
