Taskin Ahmed Not Selected in PSL Draft Despite Stellar BPL Performance
Taskin Ahmed, the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with 20 wickets, has been making headlines for his exceptional performance. The star Bangladeshi pacer even took 7 wickets in a single match this season. Following his brilliant display, rumors began circulating that a couple of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises were interested in signing him. However, these speculations were put to rest after the PSL draft concluded, as no team showed interest in picking Taskin, leaving fans surprised.
On Monday, Taskin Ahmed attended a press conference after Chittagong Kings defeated his team. During the session, he was asked about not being selected in the PSL draft. Taskin responded calmly, saying:
“No, not getting picked isn’t disappointing. There’s nothing to be upset about. The most important thing for me is to serve my country well. If I can perform wherever I play, more opportunities will come.”
Despite previously being offered an IPL contract, Taskin had to miss out on the opportunity. Reflecting on those experiences, he emphasized that he remains optimistic:
“Before this, I had three chances to play in the IPL but couldn’t go. If it was disappointing, I would’ve hanged myself by now. I’m not disappointed at all. What’s meant for me will come. Many opportunities lie ahead, Insha’Allah.”
Taskin still has a chance to play in the PSL as a replacement player if required by any franchise. However, he clarified that no franchise has contacted him yet:
“Since I wasn’t picked in the draft, a team might consider me as a replacement if needed. But as of now, no one has contacted me. These matters are usually handled by agents. Personally, I haven’t received any communication.”
Taskin remains focused on his game, displaying maturity and confidence despite the missed opportunity, while fans hope he will get his deserved chances in the future.
