Two BPL Matches Postponed Following Khaleda Zias Death
The cricketing action came to a halt across the country as the nation mourned. The death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has impacted the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Out of respect for the national mourning, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to postpone today’s scheduled matches.
On Tuesday (December 30), the BCB announced through a press release that the two matches scheduled for today in the BPL 2025-26 season have been cancelled. The matches are: Sylhet Titans vs Chattogram Royals and Dhaka Capitals vs Rangpur Riders.
The BCB’s media division stated that the postponed matches will be rescheduled to a convenient date. Once the revised schedule is finalized, all relevant teams and stakeholders will be informed in due course.
The country’s cricket governing body made this decision considering the nationwide mourning following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had also expressed deep condolences through an official statement on the passing of the country’s first female Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia.
