The Bangladesh U19 cricket team cruised into the final of the tri-nation series with a commanding 8-wicket win over hosts Zimbabwe U19, chasing down a modest target of 90 runs with 35 overs to spare at Harare Sports Club on Friday.
Batting first, Zimbabwe U19 were bundled out for just 89 runs in 22.3 overs, struggling from the very beginning against Bangladesh’s disciplined and fiery bowling attack. Opener Nathaniel Hlabangana top-scored with 26 runs, while Brandon Nyandeni added 20 runs.
For Bangladesh, Iqbal Hossain Emon was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 27 runs. Sanjid Majumdar and Swadhin Islam chipped in with 2 wickets apiece to dismantle the Zimbabwean lineup.
Chasing the paltry target, Bangladesh suffered an early setback as Rifat Beg was dismissed for a golden duck. However, Azizul Hakim Tamim and Kalam Siddiqui steadied the innings. After Kalam’s dismissal for 20, Tamim and Rizan Hossain took the team home.
Captain Tamim played a match-winning knock of 47 off 49 balls, laced with 6 fours and a six, while Rizan remained unbeaten on 21 from 26 deliveries. The victory was sealed in just 15.1 overs, with a boundary from Rizan.
With this dominant performance, the young Tigers have confidently booked their spot in the final.
