Why Shanto returned to leadership, Shanto explains

Shanto returns as captain, explains why. Test cricket is witnessing the return of Nazmul Hossain Shanto as captain. Almost a year ago, he had announced stepping down from the leadership role in this format. However, on the eve of a new start, Shanto is back at the helm. He will begin his second chapter with the Test match against Ireland, set to start on Tuesday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Shanto explained why he returned to captaincy. "I wasn't captain for some time, and I relaxed and enjoyed it. It was a great time. The cricket board communicated with me beautifully, and we had a nice discussion with everyone. I realized that the Bangladesh team is much bigger than Nazmul Hossain Shanto. I started thinking about the team's needs, putting aside personal thoughts."

Shanto also mentioned that the senior players' advice and the board's trust played a crucial role in his decision to return to captaincy. "When the cricket board's top officials or former cricketers advised me, it was not just for me, but for the team's benefit. So, I fully respected that advice. I thought that the Bangladesh cricket team is more important than individual Nazmul Hossain Shanto. That's why I came back to captaincy."

Regarding the matter, Shanto further said, "We had a great discussion with the cricket board. If any problem arises, they will be there to support and try to resolve it. The most important thing is that my relationship with the other two captains is very good. We sat down together and discussed how to improve the team and where we need to improve."
