Tomorrow, December 26, the new season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will kick off at the Sylhet International Stadium. In the opening match, the Rajshahi Warriors will face the home side, Sylhet Titans. Ahead of the match, Rajshahi captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed his excitement and anticipation.
Shanto shared that playing in front of the home crowd feels extremely thrilling for him. He said,"Playing in front of the home crowd as a player is very exciting. I feel that taking on this enjoyable challenge is very important. Every player in my team is ready to take on this challenge."
He also commented on the strengths and capabilities of both teams, saying,"Both teams are very good. I don’t want to single out any team. Tomorrow, whichever team plays better will win. Both sides are very balanced."
As the captain of Rajshahi Warriors, Shanto expressed satisfaction over receiving payments. He told the media,"Very positive (players receiving payments from franchises). This is how it should be. I think it would be great if this continues the same way every year. It feels really good to see that players have received their payments properly so far."
He further added,"Specifically talking about Rajshahi, the payments were made quite early, and the owners and management are very clear that players should not worry about any payment issues. So, this is a positive aspect. I hope every team will also ensure that players receive their payments properly."
On his role in the team and future plans, Shanto said,"My goal will be to maintain my regular influence over the team, and it’s very important that I contribute not just in batting, but overall in every aspect for Rajshahi. Also, looking ahead to the World Cup, it’s a very big opportunity. If I perform well here, it will definitely be a good opportunity. But the selectors and management will decide. My job is to try to perform consistently."
