Chattogram Test: Zimbabwe Dominate Post-Lunch Session After Early Setbacks
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Zimbabwe ended the first session of the Chattogram Test at 89 for 2. However, after lunch, Zimbabwe completely dominated the proceedings. Bangladesh bowlers failed to pick up a single wicket in the second session as Nick Welch and Sean Williams both scored fifties and remained unbeaten at tea.
Despite losing their two openers early, Zimbabwe steadied through Welch and Williams. At tea, Zimbabwe posted 161 for 2 in 56 overs. Nick Welch was unbeaten on 54 off 130 balls, while Sean Williams stood on 55 off 126 deliveries.
Following Welch’s half-century, Williams too reached his fifty, frustrating the Bangladeshi bowlers. Their partnership increasingly put pressure on the hosts.
Earlier in the morning, debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib struck early by removing Brian Bennett, claiming his maiden Test wicket. Taijul Islam then provided the second breakthrough by bowling out Ben Curran, who had survived an earlier dropped catch by Sadman Islam off Mehidy Hasan Miraz's bowling.
Despite those early successes, Bangladesh struggled throughout the second session, with Zimbabwe taking firm control of the match.
