Litton Ruled Out of Zimbabwe Test, Mahidul Named Replacement
Bangladesh have suffered a major setback ahead of their only Test against Zimbabwe, as wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumer Das has been ruled out of the match due to injury. Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has been named as his replacement in the squad.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the development in a media release on Sunday. The one-off Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe is scheduled to begin on June 28 in Harare.
According to the BCB, Litton has not yet fully recovered from a left calf injury. The same injury also forced him to miss the recently concluded T20 International series against Australia. The BCB Medical Team assessed his condition and concluded that he is unlikely to regain match fitness in time for the Test. As a result, he has been left out of the squad.
To replace Litton, the national selection panel has called up 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan to the Test squad.
