Pakistan Facing Innings Defeat After Englands Mammoth Total

England firmly cemented their dominance over Pakistan by the end of Day 2 in the third Test at Edgbaston. After piling up a massive first-innings total of 453, the hosts carried that momentum into their bowling performance as well. Pakistan reached 52/2 in their second innings by stumps on Day 2, still trailing England by 268 runs.

Resuming the day at 156/4, England's middle and lower order produced an outstanding display of batting. Powered by Harry Brook's 75, Jamie Smith's 69, Dan Lawrence's 65, Emilio Gay's 60, and a rapid fifty off 47 balls from Ollie Robinson, England built a staggering first-innings lead of 320 runs.

Although five English batters registered half-centuries, none could convert their starts into a hundred. For Pakistan, debutant bowler Razaullah was the most successful, taking 4 for 148, while Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Imran claimed two wickets apiece.

Facing a 320-run deficit, Pakistan suffered a nightmare start to their second innings. Fast bowler Ollie Robinson dealt a double blow in his very first over, dismissing Saim Ayub for a duck and Abdullah Shafique shortly after to reduce the visitors to 0/2. Robinson finished the day with figures of 2 for 10.

Recovering from the early collapse, skipper Shan Masood (21*) and Azan Awais (29*) stemmed the rot with an unbroken 52-run partnership for the third wicket. However, rain and bad light brought an early close to the day's play. Chasing a 3-0 series sweep, England remain in absolute control, while Pakistan face a steep uphill battle to avoid defeat.
