Nahid Rana Crowned ICC Player of the Month After Dominating New Zealand
There was a time when Bangladesh’s pace attack was known more for its promise than its results. Now, a new generation of fast bowlers is turning that promise into reality. After stars like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, young pacer Nahid Rana has now earned international recognition for his outstanding performances.
Nahid was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2026 following his brilliant display against New Zealand. The right-arm pacer played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s ODI series victory, taking 8 wickets across the three-match series with remarkable consistency. Earlier in March, he had also claimed 8 wickets in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan. His back-to-back impressive performances ultimately earned him the prestigious recognition from the International Cricket Council.
This is the first ICC Player of the Month award of Nahid’s career. At the same time, he became the first Bangladeshi cricketer in the men’s category to win the award since April last year. The previous recipient from Bangladesh was all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
The statistics further highlight the impact made by the young pacer. Nahid picked up 8 wickets in the series at an average of 16.75 while maintaining an economy rate of just 4.46. Such dominant bowling performances eventually helped him secure the ICC Men’s Player of the Month crown for April.
