Ryan Cook has stepped down from his role as head coach of the Netherlands men’s cricket team. The Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) confirmed the development in an official statement. Cook made the decision following the birth of his and his partner Emma’s second child.

Former South Africa cricketer Heino Kuhn has been appointed as interim head coach. Kuhn previously served as the team’s batting coach and will lead the side during their upcoming Cricket World Cup League 2 matches.

In his farewell message, Cook said, “Coaching the Netherlands team has been one of the highlights of my coaching career. I am proud to have been part of the journey toward professionalism and building a competitive team with strong values.”

He added, “I am grateful to the KNCB and the Dutch cricket community for their continued support. The role now deserves someone who can give it their full time and attention. I believe the foundations are strong and the future is bright.”

The former South African cricketer took charge of the Netherlands team in May 2022. Under his leadership, the Dutch side qualified for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and produced memorable victories over Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Cook also guided the Netherlands to qualification for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, marking their first appearance in the tournament since 2011. During the event in India, the Dutch side demonstrated their potential with impressive wins over South Africa and Bangladesh.
