Asia Cup 2025 Back on Track Amid Tensions – Full Schedule Expected Within 48 Hours
After weeks of uncertainty fueled by diplomatic tensions and political debates, the Asia Cup 2025 is finally back on course. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the full schedule for the prestigious tournament is likely to be announced within the next 24 to 48 hours, possibly by Saturday, July 26.
A recent Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting held in Dhaka was instrumental in moving the scheduling process forward. Although the meeting was mired in controversy due to the strained geopolitical relations between India and Pakistan, it laid the groundwork for the tournament’s finalized itinerary.
The schedule may be released either in full or in phases — the first part possibly on Saturday and the remainder by Monday. As per initial plans, the Asia Cup is set to take place from September 10 to 28, though minor adjustments to dates are still possible.
Reports suggest that the tournament could actually begin a day earlier, on Thursday, September 9, with the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash scheduled for Sunday, September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium — though an official confirmation is still pending.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is the tournament’s primary host this year, is currently finalizing the draft schedule. Once commercial obligations are fulfilled, the finalized fixtures will be announced through the ACC’s official platforms.
This year’s edition will feature eight teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, the UAE, and Oman. A total of 19 matches are slated to be played, with the final set for the last Sunday of September.
With India and Pakistan likely to be placed in the same group, the tournament could witness the two arch-rivals facing off at least three times — in the group stage, Super Four, and possibly the final — heightening anticipation among fans and broadcasters alike.
In line with preparations for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, the Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi serving as probable venues.
All that remains now is the official announcement. And with the buzz around an India–Pakistan clash already sky-high, cricket fans across the continent are counting down the days to Asia’s ultimate cricketing showdown.
