Darcie Brown ruled out from Bangladesh tour
Australian pacer Darcie Brown has been ruled out of the upcoming Bangladesh series due to a stress fracture in her left navicular bone. Consequently, Grace Harris has been given the opportunity in the Australian women's squad instead.
Australia women's team is set to tour Bangladesh for the first time, where they will play 3 ODIs and 3 Twenty20 matches. This series of the white ball will commence from March 21.
Tayla Vlaeminck has suffered a similar injury to that of Ellyse Perry. In recent times, she has spent a considerable amount of time off the field due to injuries. Hence, the management is unwilling to take the same risk with Brown.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Australian women's team will depart for Bangladesh. Harris was in the T20 squad against Bangladesh. However, with Brown being ruled out, opportunities have opened up in ODIs as well.
As for who will replace Brown in the T20 squad, Cricket Australia (CA) hasn't disclosed yet. On the other hand, all-rounder Heather Graham, who was a standout performer in this series, is also unavailable due to injury. The ODIs against Bangladesh will be part of the Women's Championship.
Currently, Australia sits at the top of the table with 10 wins out of 15 matches. Bangladesh, on the other hand, holds the seventh position with 4 wins out of 15 matches.
