Dream debut for Tamim, Bangladesh Secures a Big Win

In the opening T20 match of the series held in Chittagong, Bangladesh celebrated a significant victory by 8 wickets. Making his international debut in the T20 format, opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim immediately made a spectacular impact. He colored his first innings in international T20 cricket with a half-century, scoring a maiden fifty off just 36 balls before ensuring his team's victory and leaving the field triumphantly. This explosive performance by Tamim helped Bangladesh secure the win with 28 balls to spare.

Facing a modest target of 125 runs, the Tiger batters easily surpassed it in just 15.2 overs. This substantial win by 8 wickets puts the hosts ahead 1-0 in the series.

Tanzid Tamim marked his debut magnificently by playing a responsible innings to score his first T20 half-century. Against Zimbabwe, he reached his first fifty in T20 cricket on just 36 balls. While many global players have scored fifties on their debut, Tanzid Tamim became only the second Bangladeshi cricketer to achieve this feat, the first being Junaid Siddique.

The match saw Liton Das losing his wicket early to Blessing Muzarabani, who bowled him for just one run. When Bangladesh's score was only 10 after three overs, a brief interruption by rain occurred in Chittagong.

The game resumed at 8:55 PM after a pause and was again halted by rain at 9:12 PM. At this point, Bangladesh's scoreboard read 44 runs for 2 wickets in 7.2 overs, with Tanzid Tamim and captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto remaining unbeaten with 28 and 12 runs, respectively. The match restarted at 9:40 PM.

To win, Bangladesh needed 81 more runs from 76 balls with 9 wickets in hand. However, Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed at a personal score of 21. Despite losing another wicket, Tanzid Tamim continued his splendid batting, scoring 67 runs off 47 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Alongside him, Towhid Hridoy played a quick cameo, remaining not out at 33 runs from 18 balls.

Zimbabwe’s top order failed to pose a challenge, crumbling under the bowling assault led by Sheikh Mehidy and Taskin, among others. Making a return to the national team after 18 months, all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin played a crucial role. Zimbabwe's experienced batters struggled, with four of them getting out for ducks, including three golden ducks. However, a resilient 75-run partnership for the eighth wicket between Madziva and Masakadza helped Zimbabwe post a challenging total of 124 runs.
