Shreyas Iyer and Georgia Voll Named ICC Players of the Month for March
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for March, with India’s Shreyas Iyer and Australia’s rising star Georgia Voll taking home the honors.
This is the second time that Iyer has received this prestigious award. He played a pivotal role in helping India clinch their third ICC Champions Trophy title, thanks to his consistent and impactful performances. Across the final three matches of the tournament, Iyer scored 172 runs at an average of 57.33.
His contributions included a match-winning 79 against New Zealand in the group stage, a crucial partnership with Virat Kohli in the semifinal against Australia, and a vital 48-run knock in the final against New Zealand, cementing India’s title win.
Reacting to the award, Iyer said,
“Being named the ICC Player of the Month is a huge honor, especially in a month where we lifted the Champions Trophy. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
On the women’s side, 21-year-old Georgia Voll has made headlines early in her international career. Her explosive batting in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand earned her the ICC Player of the Month award for the first time.
She impressed with a quickfire half-century off 30 balls in Auckland, scored 36 in Mount Maunganui, and capped the series with an outstanding 75 off 57 balls in Wellington, helping Australia complete a 3-0 series sweep.
