BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon announced that Tamim Iqbal will play for the national team starting next year. BCB has discussed plans with Tamim regarding his return. The final decision will be announced by Tamim himself.
Previously retired from T20 cricket, opener Tamim Iqbal is also reluctant to play Test matches due to fitness concerns. According to the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP), Bangladesh will not play any ODI series before December this year. Hence, Tamim's return to international cricket will naturally be prolonged.
When asked about Tamim's return to the national team, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon said, "It is not appropriate to comment before hearing from Tamim himself. However, from what I have heard, he has said he will play for the national team from next year."
Regarding Mustafizur Rahman leaving the IPL to return to Bangladesh after the first of May, the Board President commented, "If Mustafiz played, neither we nor the IPL would benefit."
