Bangladesh Announce Emerging Trophy Squad Under Nahidas Leadership
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2026 in the United Arab Emirates. Experienced spinner Nahida Akter has been handed the captaincy, while dependable fast bowler Marufa Akter has been ruled out of the squad due to illness and injury.
The selectors have assembled the new squad by making several changes to the national team that recently participated in the Asian Games. Sathi Rani has been recalled to strengthen the opening department, while all-rounder Jannatul Ferdous Sumona has also returned to the squad. Meanwhile, young pacer Disha Biswas has been included to bolster the pace attack in Marufa’s absence.
Based on performance and tactical considerations, two familiar faces have been left out of the squad. Off-spinner Sultana Khatun has been rested for the tournament, while batter Sharmin Sultana has also missed out on selection.
To maintain the core batting and all-round strength of the team, the selectors have retained their faith in Nigar Sultana Joty and Dilara Akter. Sharmin Akter Supta, Swarna Akter and Ritu Moni have also been included to add depth to the middle order. Meanwhile, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan and Sanjida Akter Meghla have retained their places to ensure consistency in the bowling and spin departments.
According to the announced schedule, the players will depart from the BCB premises on November 10. Bangladesh will begin their campaign against Pakistan on November 12, before facing Zimbabwe in their second match at the Ajman venue the following day.
Bangladesh Squad: Nahida Akter (Captain), Sobhana Mostary, Nigar Sultana Joty, Sharmin Akter Supta, Swarna Akter, Ritu Moni, Dilara Akter, Rabeya Khan, Disha Biswas, Fariha Islam Trishna, Fahima Khatun, Juwairiya Ferdous, Jannatul Ferdous Sumona, Sanjida Akter Meghla and Sathi Rani.
