Today, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match, two Australian stalwarts will face each other. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, two significant cricketers from Australia, will confront each other. Cummins was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a hefty price, while Kolkata Knight Riders passed on Starc. Today, on Saturday, Kolkata and Hyderabad will battle at Eden Gardens. The rivalry between Cummins and Starc adds an interesting twist to the game.
Cummins was bought by Hyderabad for INR 20.5 crores in the IPL auction, making him the most expensive player. On the other hand, when Kolkata put out a big bid for Starc, they secured him for INR 24.75 crores. The clash between these two national team mates is intriguing.
Speaking at a press conference, Cummins said, "I want to say that not having to compete against Starc means our batters have done well. This is the beauty of the IPL. I have been playing with Starc for 15 years. I cannot recall another match where I played against him. It will be strange to see him sitting in the opposing dugout."
Cummins has not previously captained a team in competitive cricket. This time, he has taken on the responsibility for Hyderabad. Leading Australia's ODI and Test teams, he is taking on this new role with pride. Everyone knows that. This time, he stands ready for the 20-over version. Cummins said, "I am feeling quite excited; something good is going to happen."
Tonight, at 8 PM Bangladesh time, Kolkata Knight Riders will face Sunrisers Hyderabad.
