There's no shortage of examples of cricketers facing visa issues. The latest example is Pakistan's star pacer Mohammad Amir. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ensuring his visa for the T20I series against Ireland, the board's logistics department booked Amir's flight to Dublin after he obtained the visa, ensuring he could join the team on time.
However, even though he got his visa and boarded the flight, there's hardly any chance of him featuring in the first match. He might get the opportunity to serve the team in the second and third matches under Babar Azam's leadership.
Relevantly, PCB allowed Amir's visa process along with other team members. However, the Irish Embassy initially didn't grant visas to the Pakistan team.
Subsequently, PCB complained to Cricket Ireland about the issue. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also personally addressed the matter.
Amir's visa application had to be reprocessed, and he eventually received a green signal for the journey to Ireland.
The first T20I match between Pakistan and Ireland will commence today at 8 PM Bangladesh time in Dublin. The remaining two matches will be played on May 12 and 14 at the same venue and time.
