Purple Cap is now with Bumrah
On April 8th, Mustafizur Rahman of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took 2 wickets against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a match, securing the Purple Cap for himself. He was leading with 9 wickets.
However, that changed hands twice yesterday. On April 10th, Rajasthan Royals' Yuzvendra Chahal took 2 wickets against the Gujarat Titans in Jaipur. With that, Chahal, by topping with 10 wickets, became the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Understandably, he retained the Purple Cap.
But yesterday (April 11th), in Wangkhede, Jasprit Bumrah of the Mumbai Indians took 5 wickets against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), becoming the owner of the Purple Cap.
Having taken 9 wickets in 4 innings, Mustafizur Rahman is now at number 3 on the list of wicket-takers. Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal, with 10 wickets each, have played 5 matches.
Now, here's the list of the top 10 wicket-takers in IPL 2024:
- Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians) - 10 wickets in 5 innings
- Yuzvendra Chahal (Rajasthan Royals) - 10 wickets in 5 innings

- Arshdeep Singh (Punjab Kings) - 8 wickets in 5 innings

- Kagiso Rabada (Punjab Kings) - 7 wickets in 5 innings
- Umesh Yadav (Gujarat Titans) - 7 wickets in 6 innings
- Mayank Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants) - 6 wickets in 3 innings.
