Afghanistan Cricket Board extends Trott's contract until end of 2025
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has extended the contract of Jonathan Trott, making him the head coach of the Afghan cricket team for an additional year. As a result, Trott will continue in the role until 2025, including leading Afghanistan in the Champions Trophy.
Since taking over as head coach of Afghanistan, Trott has led the team to several successes. After performing well in the 2019 World Cup, the team reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. Now, with an eye on more success in the Champions Trophy, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to extend Trott's contract.
Jonathan Trott first became the head coach of Afghanistan in 2022, under an 18-month contract. He later renewed the contract for another year in January.
However, in the first series of this new contract, Trott will not have full responsibility. In the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, Trott will only be involved in the ODI format, while Hamid Hassan will take on the role of head coach for other formats, and Nawroz Mangal will be the assistant coach.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has wished Jonathan Trott the best of luck as he continues his work with Afghanistan's national team, aiming to further develop Afghanistan's cricket on the global stage.
