Afghanistan once again asserted their dominance over Zimbabwe, winning the third and final match by 9 runs to complete a clean sweep in the three-match T20 series. Despite already winning the first two matches, Afghanistan played with confidence and proved their strength in the final game.

Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. The openers started aggressively, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz scoring 92 runs off 48 balls, hitting 8 fours and 5 sixes. Ibrahim Zadran added 60 runs off 49 balls.

Together, they built a 159-run opening partnership, putting pressure on Zimbabwe’s bowlers. After the openers were dismissed, Sediqullah Atal played a fiery cameo, scoring 35 runs off just 15 balls, helping the team reach 210 runs in 20 overs.

In response, Zimbabwe showed early resistance but couldn’t maintain momentum against Afghanistan’s bowling attack. After scoring 48 runs in the powerplay, the pressure mounted when Brian Bennett was dismissed for 47. Captain Sikandar Raza kept the scoring rate up, reaching a half-century in just 29 balls.

However, consistent wickets from Afghan bowlers in the final overs made victory impossible for Zimbabwe. They finished at 201 runs in their 20 overs. For Afghanistan, Abdullah Ahmadzai took 3 wickets and Fareed Ahmad claimed 2.

Gurbaz was named Player of the Match for his aggressive batting that secured Afghanistan’s win.

Zadran was awarded Player of the Series, scoring 169 runs across the three matches.

After losing the only Test match, Afghanistan bounced back with confidence in the T20 series, and the clean sweep made their achievement even more impressive.
