Bangladesh Face India with SemiFinal Dreams Alive, Sobhana Remains Optimistic

Bangladesh have scripted a new chapter in their history at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Victories over the Netherlands and Pakistan have given the Tigresses their highest-ever tally of two wins in a single edition of the tournament. Although they suffered a defeat against Australia, those back-to-back wins have kept Nigar Sultana Joty’s side firmly in contention for a place in the semi-finals.

However, Bangladesh now face two major challenges in their quest for a last-four berth. Wins against India and South Africa in their remaining group-stage matches could significantly boost their chances of reaching the semi-finals. With that goal in mind, the Tigresses are set to take on India in Manchester on Tuesday at 7:30 PM Bangladesh time.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, batter Sobhana Mostary highlighted the team’s confidence and positive mindset following their recent successes. She believes Bangladesh are in a strong position heading into the crucial fixtures and remains hopeful about their semi-final prospects.

“We are in a good position right now. Our next two matches are against India and South Africa. The team is in a much better place, and after winning two matches, the mindset within the squad naturally changes. We will definitely try to win against India and South Africa and qualify for the semi-finals,” said Sobhana Mostary.

While acknowledging India as one of the strongest teams in the tournament, Bangladesh remain confident in their own abilities. Mostary stressed that performance on the day would be the deciding factor rather than reputations.

“If we can play good cricket, then the team that performs better on the day will win. We want to play according to our strengths,” she added.
