Aminul Islam Bulbul Elected as New BCB President, Shares His Journey and Vision for Cricket
After weeks of uncertainty and dramatic developments, Aminul Islam Bulbul, former captain of the Bangladesh national team and the country's first Test centurion, has been elected as the new President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). His appointment was confirmed during the BCB board meeting on Friday afternoon, following his approval as a councillor by the National Sports Council (NSC).
In his first press conference as BCB President, Bulbul reflected on how he was brought into the fold and shared his aspirations for the future of Bangladesh cricket.
“Toward the end of April, I received a phone call from the NSC under the Ministry of Youth and Sports,” Bulbul said. “They asked me if I would be willing to accept an opportunity. I had been waiting for a call like that for a long time. When it finally came, I didn’t look back. The call came from the respected Sports Adviser himself.”
Outlining his goals and commitment, Bulbul added,
“I will give it my all. Insha’Allah, I will not fail.”
As he steps into his new role, Bulbul becomes the 16th president of the BCB, and only the second former international cricketer to lead the board—following his predecessor Faruque Ahmed.
