Litton Das Nearing Return from Finger Injury, Likely to Join UAE Tour
After weeks on the sidelines with a finger injury, Bangladesh batter Litton Das is showing encouraging signs of recovery and could mark his return to international cricket during the upcoming UAE tour, team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed on Saturday.
“Litton underwent an X-ray today, and the results are better than before,” said Bayjedul. “Initially, we expected him to be out for about a month. It’s been three weeks now, and we are planning to step up his fitness drills. We hope to conduct a fitness test between May 10–12. His progress has been very positive.”
Litton sustained a minor fracture in his finger while training with Karachi Kings in Pakistan. He returned home and was diagnosed with a small crack in his finger bone, which was expected to sideline him for at least two weeks.
Bangladesh are scheduled to fly to the UAE on May 14, where they will play two T20Is on May 17 and 19. The team will then head to Pakistan for a five-match T20I series. Reports suggest that a combined squad may be announced for both tours.
With Najmul Hossain Shanto stepping down from captaincy, there is growing speculation that a fully fit Litton Das could also be considered for a leadership role on these tours.
