Tigers climb to 9th in T20I rankings, leapfrogging Afghanistan
A day after their thrilling win over Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh cricket received another piece of good news. On Tuesday, the Tigers kept their Super Four hopes alive with an 8-run victory against Afghanistan, and that win has now been rewarded in the ICC T20I Rankings. Bangladesh have moved up one spot to 9th place.
In the latest ICC rankings, Litton Das’s side, who were previously ranked 10th, have climbed to 9th with 222 rating points. Afghanistan, who also have the same number of points, slipped to 10th on fractional differences. In other words, Bangladesh have leapfrogged their direct rivals Afghanistan to move one place higher.
Currently, India sit at the top of the ICC T20I rankings with 271 rating points. Australia are second with 266, while England are third with 257.
The rest of the top 10 is completed by New Zealand (4th), South Africa (5th), West Indies (6th), Sri Lanka (7th), and Pakistan (8th).
