Joe Root has taken a giant leap in Test cricket history. In the fourth Test of the ongoing series against India at Old Trafford, Manchester, the English batter surpassed legends Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, and Rahul Dravid, joining Sachin Tendulkar at the top of the all-time Test run-scorers list.
With his 38th Test century, Root moved up to second place in the list of leading Test run-scorers, leaving behind several all-time greats. He now has 13,409 runs in just 157 Tests, making him the closest active player to Tendulkar’s towering record.
Top 5 Test Run-Scorers (as of now):
Sachin Tendulkar – 15,921 runs (329 innings)
Joe Root – 13,409 runs (157 Tests)
Ricky Ponting – 13,378 runs (168 Tests)
Jacques Kallis – 13,289 runs (166 Tests)
Rahul Dravid – 13,288 runs (164 Tests)
